Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

The prophet Isaiah identified John the baptizer as The Voice of one crying in the wilderness. What was this voice proclaiming? “Prepare ye the way of The Lord.” Having been told that the long-awaited Messiah had arrived and was about to be revealed, John declared to the multitudes, prepare the way of The Lord, make His paths straight. You and I have been told that this same Messiah Jesus Christ is coming back again, and what is the message that we are to proclaim? Prepare ye the way of The Lord, make His paths straight, which is another way of saying, repent and believe on The Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

John also declared that his baptism was one of water, but The One Whom he pointed men to would baptize with The Holy Ghost. John the voice who baptized with water, pointed to Jesus, Who would baptize with the Holy Ghost. Jesus Himself said, “If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” (Luke 11:11-13)

Father, fill us afresh today with Your Spirit and power to declare in our generation the message, prepare ye the way of The Lord!
