John 3:16,17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The purpose of the incarnation was decreed before the universe was created (1 Peter 1:18-20). The apostle John tells us that the Child Who was born existed from the beginning (John 1:1,2,14). Jesus Christ is the Uncreated One Who became a man to accomplish the redemptive purpose of God. He was seen. He was handled. Jesus was The Eternal Word of God made flesh. Every word that Jesus spoke was God speaking. Every miracle or wonder that Jesus performed was God working. John tells us that Jesus does not just give us eternal life. Jesus Himself is eternal life! John also tells us that Jesus was manifested for three purposes:

One, “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins;” (1 John 3:5a).

Two, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8b)

Three, “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:3)

When Jesus came into this world, God came into this world. And He came to take away your sin, destroy the works of the devil, and – most wonderful of all – He came to bring you back into fellowship with The Father. Jesus IS The Gift of God. That’s Christmas. Receive Him as Lord and crown Him as King of your heart and life today. Selah
