“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” 2 Peter 1:2

When we speak about knowledge, it is important to differentiate between head knowledge, which is information, and heart knowledge, which is revelation.

Knowing about God is not the same as knowing Him. Even the devil and demons have the knowledge of God. Even believing that there is a God only proves that we are not fools. When Peter talks about the knowledge of God, he is not talking informationally, but relationally. A Christian is a person who, through a new birth, has entered into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.5

Being religious is not the same as having a meaningful relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus identified the religious leaders of His day as offspring of the devil! But Jesus came to “destroy the works of the devil”. and to give us eternal life.

The Lord Jesus is a Person whom we can know, and with whom we can have fellowship. Knowing the Almighty God, the true God, is what the gospel of grace declares.
