Psalm 100:4,5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Note, beloved, that the Psalmist is preparing his heart to worship God before he enters into the sanctuary. That is significant. What heart preparations do you make before you enter your church sanctuary or home group study? Let me put it this way. What if you decided right here and now that before you go to church the next time, you are going to make it a point to prepare your heart to worship God, hear from Him and give thanks. I mean prepare at least as much as you would for an important test or job interview that you deemed of life-changing importance. Too often we prepare our outer man and ignore preparing the inner man. Note I will enter into His gates with thanksgiving. I will enter His courts with praise. I will be thankful to Him and bless His Name.

I wonder what kind of a day the Psalmist had. Is it possible that he had a bad day and determined that he was going to worship his God no matter how he felt? Possible. Truth be told, many times we find ourselves not feeling like praising God or giving Him thanks because of our circumstances. However, oh praise be unto God for the illumination of His Spirit! We enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise because of Who He is! He is good. His mercy is everlasting. His truth endures to all generations. That’s all you need to know, beloved, because God alone is the only reason for worship. Selah
