James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
After Jesus cleansed the temple for the second time, Mark 11:17 tells us that He made the declaration, “Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer?” The most vital element of the making of disciples, reaching the lost with the gospel, and the day-to-day operation of the church, is prayer unto God with one another and for one another. Jesus designed the church to be prayer driven, not program driven. I heard someone say years ago that life is fragile, handle with prayer. How true. Jesus said in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
This morning marks day 7 of our month of prayer. We will be looking at James 5:13-18 and then going to The Lord together with our prayers for the areas mentioned in those verses. If there were a “core verse” for this month of prayer, it would be the words of The Master found in Mark 11:22, “Have faith in God.” Beloved, whatever your trial or need today, have faith in God. Let’s look to The Lord today with humility and confidence, knowing that He “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21) Selah
