The Incredible Influence Of A Godly Woman
One of the most treasured gifts of God to the local church is godly, virtuous women (Proverbs 31:10-31). On a day set aside to honor mothers, I’d like to look at what a woman’s primary role is in the home and in the church (Titus 2:3-5).
In a day and age when the liberal society we live in is trying to redefine marriage, family, and gender, it is a blessing indeed to have a book that is God-breathed truth to guide us (2 Timothy 3:16-17). I am thankful that we do not have to “make up” the rules for how to have a godly family or be a godly man or woman. God has laid it all out for us in the Bible.
Contrary to contemporary thinking, it is the gospel of Jesus Christ that sets a woman free to be the person that God created and intended her to be. While every secular enterprise from Hollywood to Bollywood places the emphasis on a woman’s physical attributes, the Bible describes the true beauty of women as being that of the heart (1 Peter 3:2-4). In a world where outward beauty is almost deified, the Word of God places the true value of a woman on what she does for the glory of God (1 Timothy 2:9-10). It was the godly lives of his mother and grandmother which helped shape Timothy into the man that he was called by God to be (2 Timothy 1:5).
So, to all of the grandmothers, mothers, sisters who are with us this morning, I want to say thank you for loving Jesus more than anyone and anything, and thank you for the investments that you have made in your marriages, children, and this local church. We love you all and appreciate you! Have a blessed day in Jesus!!
Thanks Pastor Ray. Makes me stop and think how wonderful and amazing Linda is. Eveything you said in this blog is truly a painting of my Linda. God has blessed me and my family with a wife, a mom, a grandma, a great-grandma and a woman who loves the Lord with all her heart!! PTL!!
