One of the benefits of belonging to the Father is that through Jesus we have direct access to God in prayer (Ephesians 2:18). How glorious it is to be able to call upon our Lord at any time throughout the day or night! “As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:16,17)

Like King David, the man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22), I am so often overwhelmed by the circumstances around me. The condition of things in the world can so easily disturb me. The attraction to the forbidden fruit can distract me. But thanks be to God, I can go to the Rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:1-4). As we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, He promises to lift us up (1 Peter 5:6,7).

So, let me challenge you to set aside some time this week for prayer, either alone or joining with brothers or sisters in Christ at one of the regularly scheduled prayer meetings. God said that His house would be called “a house of prayer” (Isaiah 56:7). Let’s go to the Lord and see what He will do. “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
