When Ezra arrived with his delegation, he found that the Temple had been rebuilt, but not the city walls. Spiritually, many of the returning exiles were in bad shape. They had intermarried with the heathen. Immorality and idolatry were rampant. When Ezra learned of this, he was absolutely overwhelmed and grieved that God’s people would drop to such a low level. Ezra responded by dropping to his knees in prayer. Please open your Bible to Ezra chapter nine, and listen as Pastor Ray Viola begins his look at one of the Bible’s great prayers.
