Hebrews 10:11-14 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; … For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

The Lord’s Supper is a memorial meal (Luke 22:19). It is a time for us to remember that the sacrifice Jesus Christ paid on the cross was to atone for the debt of my sins and transgressions that I owed to God. It is a time for us to remember that The Lord Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God, accomplished our salvation once and for all. That is the gospel of grace. Or to put it bluntly, Jesus Christ IS the gospel of grace incarnate.

Leviticus 16 is the great Day of Atonement chapter of Scripture. Read through this chapter this morning, and I trust that The Spirit of God will help you to see in these Old Testament types or pictures exactly what The Father sent His Son to do to reconcile sinners, bound by sin’s debt and sin’s power, back into a loving, meaningful relationship with Him. It is only by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, that sinners are set free from sin’s debt, sin’s guilt and sin’s shame.

The cry of Jesus, “It is finished” (John 19:30), was not a cry of despair; it was a shout of victory! Hallelujah!! Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are saved. We are declared righteous. We are bought with a price that removes the barrier that once separated us from God. With holy awe and reverence, let’s partake of the bread and the cup this morning, and in doing so, give praise and glory to our King! Selah
