Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name…

The Name of God that Jesus came to reveal was that of Father. Israel knew God as Elohim, Jehovah, Almighty God, and other names, but to know Him as Father was a revelation that was relatively new to them. One of the most tender and comforting characteristics of God is that He is our Father. He is the Perfect Father. He is the “ how much more” Father (Matthew 7:11; Luke 11:13, 12:28). If I as a sinner and father know how to give good things to my children, how much more does our Heavenly Father know how to give good things unto His children?

The impression that I get from hearing some people talk about God sounds more like The Godfather than God our Father. According to their theology, Jesus would have called down the fire from heaven to nuke the Samaritans. He would have left people in bondage to demonic possession and oppression. He would have refused to heal those who came to Him to teach them a lesson.

Remember this, beloved. If you want to know what God The Father is like, just look at Jesus. He is the express image of The Father. Everything that Jesus did and said were things The Father did and said. Every gift of healing or deliverance from demonic powers was the will of The Father being done on earth, as it is in heaven.

“Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6) is the heart cry of His adopted children. Our Father is a redeeming Father, Who is full of compassion towards us. Jesus said, “Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.” (John 14:9) Selah.
