Hebrews 10:19-22 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, …

When The Lord Jesus shouted the words, “It is finished” (John 19:30), the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom (Mark 15:37,38). Behind that veil was the mercy seat that was set upon the top of the Ark of the Covenant. Only the high priest could enter into the presence of the mercy seat, and that was once a year on the Day of Atonement. When he went in, he was commanded to sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice upon the mercy seat seven times. The number seven speaks of perfection, thus signifying that the sins of the nation were covered for another year. But both that sacrifice and that high priest were shadows of the perfect sacrifice for sin and the perfect high priest that was to come, The Lord Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God, our Great High Priest.

What does that mean? Access into the presence of God is now open at all times to all who call upon The Name of The Lord to be saved. Incredible! Extravagant grace and mercy is available to us at all times, for every need. Not law, but grace. Not punishment, but mercy. Oh there is Fatherly chastening when we walk contrary to God’s ways, but even that is done in grace and mercy. What is the reason we are dealt with in grace and mercy? Because Jesus alone absorbed the full brunt of God’s wrath and satisfied the justice that was owed to God for our sins. Oh, beloved, may The Spirit of God illuminate the truth of the torn veil to you! God calls us to come before His throne of grace and mercy. Don’t let the lie of the devil or legalism keep you from entering. It IS finished!! Selah
