Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to the Church. Jesus wants His churches and the people in them to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-led, not driven by the desires of men or guided by worldly precepts. In His letter to the church at Sardis, Jesus had to rebuke them for their dead works, because they were doing things their way instead of God’s way.
