Jesus sent a message to a church in Smyrna. He had high praise for them, because, though they were financially destitute, they were spiritually rich. Saints in Smyrna were persecuted and even martyred for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Accordingly, Jesus promised overcomers a crown of life and no harm from the second death.
