Daniel 6:26,27 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast forever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
After God’s miraculous protection of Daniel in the lions’ den, King Darius made incredible declarations about our God that is worth meditating on this morning. He declared that the God of Daniel is The Living God, before Whom men ought to tremble and fear. He declared that God is steadfast, and He is The King of a kingdom that shall not be destroyed. He declared that God’s dominion is eternal. He declared that He is The God Who rescues and delivers and works signs and wonders in heaven and earth. This God, declared Darius, delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
Hallelujah, beloved; Darius is talking about your God and my God. God is every bit God this morning as He has always been. And for those who are in a covenant relationship with Him by grace, through faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, He still delivers and rescues His people. He still works signs and wonders in the earth (and in heaven). After all, He IS God!
Are you in a lions’ den of some sort this morning, dear ones? Peter writes, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” (1 Peter 5:8-9) You are not alone, neither are you helpless. Resist the devil, steadfast in your faith in Christ. Declare the decrees of Darius and meditate on Who your God is. God is near you and with you. Selah
