Hebrews 9:11-12 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The gospel according to Hebrews is that Jesus Christ has tasted death for every man (Hebrews 2:9). And, having tasted death, according to the will of God, Jesus has wrought a perfect redemption and the gift of life everlasting. The devil once had the power of death, but Jesus Christ, by dying and rising again from the dead has stripped him of the ability to hold mankind in his grip of fear (Hebrews 2:14-15). Jesus became flesh and blood to accomplish the eternal redemptive purpose of His Father. But by becoming man, He experienced our human pains and sorrows and is able to help us in those times of need (Hebrews 4:15,16).

The Lord’s Supper is a covenant meal of remembrance. It reminds us of the incredible grace of God that has been extended towards us through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Being a child of God is not an accomplishment or achievement. It is an unmerited, undeserved gift. The gospel is not good advice (something that is given); it is good news (something that is done). Beloved, It IS Finished (John 19:30)!
