Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me.

There is a chorus of a classic hymn that declares, “Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever!” Think on that declaration for a moment, beloved, before you read anything else. My heart leaps for joy as The Holy Spirit illuminates what those words mean for you and me this morning.

Jesus Christ has paid the full price for our sin debt, and in doing so, He has brought us into eternal relationship and fellowship with God. But at the very same time that Jesus was paying the price for our sin as The Lamb of God, He was also spoiling the very principalities and powers of Satan that held us in the grip of iniquity and deception. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost, and He did just that! That is the gospel. Because of His perfect redemptive work, Jesus has granted to all those who call upon His Name the power to walk in victory, for this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).

Thank God for the promise of our eternal home in glory where we will be with our Glorious Lord Jesus forever. C.S. Lewis said, “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.” How true. But the fact remains that we are still living in this fallen world that is governed by Satan and demonic powers. Through Jesus, we have been delivered from Satan’s power and authority. We are temples of The Living God who can walk in victory now because greater is He that is in me than he that is in this world (1 John 4:4). Selah
