Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
God is as glorified by what He hides from us as much as (if not more so) in what He reveals to us. Because we are finite beings with finite understanding and finite wisdom, we are incapable of “connecting the dots” of life’s mysteries and what we often refer to as “unanswered prayer.” The secret counsels of God are His glorious and majestic workings and dealings that are beyond our abilities to process. We see this most clearly in the closing chapters of the book of Job and Isaiah 40. To walk by faith means that we have a confidence in the unshakable, unalterable character of God even when we do not understand what He is doing or allowing in our lives.
Jesus said, “If you have seen Me, you have seen The Father.” (John 14:9) Jesus is the lens through whom we are to filter the understandable dealings and mysterious concealings of God. There is nothing vague about “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5) There is nothing vague about “This is how God showed His love towards us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.” (1 John 4:9) There is nothing vague about “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
Beloved, allow God’s revealings be the anchor of your soul during seasons of His concealings. Selah
