From time to time our church sets aside a week to be devoted to prayer. When Jesus saw the apostles sleeping in the garden, He said unto them, “Watch ye and pray” (Mark 14:38). The word watch here means to give strict attention to, be cautious, active. Thus, prayer requires us to be watchful and vigilant. When Jesus spoke of His second coming, He gave a similar exhortation. “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
(Matthew 24:42) Preparing for the return of Jesus also requires us to be watchful and vigilant. You get the sense with both of these exhortations that we are prone to not be watchful.
My prayer is that The Lord Jesus would ignite a sense of urgency within each one of us regarding our need for prayer and the need to be ready for His return like the 10 virgins (Matthew 25:1-13).
Submit your prayer requests to me and I will pray for you! Luke 18:1: “Men ought always to pray and not faint!”
