The life of faith is a life of trust and obedience to God. The Christian faith is not some kind of ‘magic’ that makes bad things disappear and good things appear. It is a life of obedience to God’s Word. Our Great Shepherd Jesus said,
‘Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.’ (Matthew 7:24-27)
Do you hear what Jesus is saying here? He is telling us that every life is going to have trials, and tests and adversities. But only those who hear and obey will stand. It was disobedience in the Garden that resulted in the fall of man. Whenever we eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we fall flat on our faces. The carnal person needs to feel and understand God’s Word before they will obey. That is contrary to Scripture. It is after we obey, that we understand the truth and power of God in our lives. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight. We are to obey God’s Word against all of the contrary emotions and circumstances to the contrary. If God tells us to build an ark when we have never seen rain, we build the ark. May The Holy Spirit not only give us ears to hear His word today; but also may He give unto us the power and grace to obey it. That is a Rock solid life!
