Proverbs 16.32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

The bible clearly reveals to us the vast difference between the kingdom of man and the kingdom of God. Once-born people see things much differently than do those who are twice-born, grave-born children of God. This world values and esteems those who possess physical power and might. The muscle men and entrepreneurs of this world are the envy of many.

But The Living God is not impressed by outward, human strength and power. He values those things of the heart, the things deep within the human soul. The heavyweight champion of the world may not be able to control his anger or have the power to put down an ungodly magazine. A savvy business man may be able to cut remarkable deals, but not have the power to be faithful to his wife.

God esteems those who are disciplined and self controlled. To be able to resist the desire to get even or vent ones frustrations is more powerful than lifting 500 pounds. To be able to say “No” to those fleshly lusts that war against our souls is more powerful than the strongest defensive lineman in the NFL. Like Elisha’s Servant, may God open our eyes to see things from His perspective. That we may embrace His definition of strength, power and might. Father, grant unto us today that power and strength that comes from You. Grant us the Spirit wrought discipline that we need to be Your ambassadors in this world. We ask this in Jesus Name, and for Your glory and honor.
