As we focus on the theme of the presence of God, this passage from Psalm 140 identifies the people of God as being righteous and upright. That is who we are in Christ beloved, righteous and upright.

David, the man after God’s own heart declares that “the upright shall dwell in His presence.” A dwelling place is a place where one lives. How radical would our fellowship with Jesus and one another be if we actually lived with the realization that we are dwelling in the presence of God? Living in the presence of God is another way of saying that the normal Christian life is being aware of the nearness of the Lord Jesus.

Who would not want to have the Lord Jesus by their side every second, minute and day of their life? Who would not want to have the Lord Jesus by their side when they are discouraged? Depressed? Defeated? Truth is beloved, we ARE dwelling in the presence of God whether we are aware of it or not. That’s my problem, beloved. I’m so prone to be moved by what my five senses tell me. But Scripture says that we walk by faith not by sight (1 Timothy 1:17).

Precious church family, our King Jesus is invisible. He is more real, and more present than we think He is. Scripture says that the Lord Jesus is at hand. All that He promises is at hand. Oh, may the Spirit of God touch our spiritual eyes to see Him and dwell there. Dwelling in His presence is the source of peace, joy, hope, mercy, grace and strength.

May you and I make the most of each and every opportunity that we have to access the presence of the Lord Jesus and find in Him rest for our souls and the wisdom and power to live for Him and His glory. “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20). SELAH
