1 Corinthians 1.9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

We were redeemed by God through Christ to have fellowship with Him. Let that thought sink down deep into your very souls this morning. God Himself has called you to fellowship with Him. Could there possibly be anything more glorious or important than that? So, before we begin our day, will we offer it’s first fruits unto God? Will we shut out the worldly responsibilities and tune in with Abba?

God in His faithfulness (and scandalous grace) has called us unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ. Because Jesus is alive, we can have a fellowship with him that is equal to the fellowship that others had with Him while He was on earth. Yes, our fellowship is not one of seeing Him or touching Him. But as John wrote, that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Beloved, do you and I realize what this means? This means (among a million other things) that when we open our Bibles and pray, we are engaged in a living conversation with The Creator, Redeemer and High Priest of our souls. It is far too easy to slip into a mechanical fellowship with The Lord, where even the very sacred things of God becomes a duty. Dear ones, that is not what God intended it to be.

My prayer is that Our Father would turn your religious duties into holy delight. The price has been paid. The door of fellowship with Jesus is swung wide open. Come freely, come boldly, come reverently and enjoy this sweet fellowship of The Lord!
