Reader, I have news for you…The King of kings, Jesus Christ, is coming back to this earth one day (Revelation 19:11-16). The Jesus that I am speaking of is the very same Jesus who ascended up into heaven nearly 2,000 years ago (Acts 1:9-11).

This event is one of the foundational doctrines of our faith. It is The Second Coming of Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ returns to this earth, every eye will see Him and all of His enemies will wail (Revelation 1:7). When Jesus Christ returns it will be a display of His power and great glory (Matthew 24:30). In His first coming as Israel’s King, Christ was “lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9) His Second Coming will be on a white horse (Revelation 19:11). His first coming was to provide atonement for sin and make reconciliation for sinners (2 Corinthians 5:19,21). His Second Coming is for judgment upon the ungodly (Jude 14,15). He came the first time as “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). When Jesus comes the second time, He “will roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of His people, and the strength of the children of Israel.” (Joel 3:16)

Jesus is both The Lamb of God and the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5,6). Jesus IS “the King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Timothy 6:14b-15). Is Jesus your King and Lord? Have you received Him as Lord of your life (John 1:11-13), or have you rejected His invitation (Luke 14:15-24)? Are you a “sermon sipper” who reads the Bible and listens to sermons with no intention of applying God’s truth to your life; or are you a person who listens and does what God says (Matthew 7:24-27)? The proof that we love The Lord Jesus is demonstrated by obeying Him (John 14:23,24).

On the cross, Pilate wrote the inscription, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” (John 19:19) At His Second Coming, He will be revealed as “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:16) May reader and writer alike humbly bow our hearts before King Jesus today. May we render unto Him the praise that is due His Name (Revelation 5:12). May we live our lives in a way that clearly proclaims Him as Lord (Luke 6:46).
