Scriptures are nourishment for the believer. It is of utmost importance that we embrace the truth that the Bible is the inspired word of God. It’s also important to understand that Scripture is the “telescope” that points to Jesus, as well as the basis of sound doctrine, and the Christian’s manual for godly living.
New believers should desire “the pure milk of the Word” to help them grow. Older saints should be discipling others and eating strong meat. At whatever level you are in Christ, God’s Word has been given to you, and the word proclaimed in Revelation 1:3 doesn’t only pertain to that one book, but is just as true for the entire Bible: “Blessed is he who reads”.
The prophet Isaiah wrote: “Seek ye (that means you) out of the book of the Lord and read”. The Bible is God’s book. He is the Author. Oh, how rich this book is! One entire Psalm – Psalm 119 – is “reserved” to declare the splendor of God’s Word, and it is the longest chapter in the Bible. In this day of high-tech thinking, remember that faith comes by hearing God’s Word.
Oh, child of God, beware of the snare of the philosophy of man. Know that the devil’s objective is to destroy God’s Word, a tactic he has successfully employed since the Garden of Eden. Our objective, on the other hand as God’s disciples, is to show God’s Word because His Word is truth, “and the truth shall make you free.” We become “born again” by hearing and believing the incorruptible Word.
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly”, and apply it accordingly. Check out what you hear with the Scriptures and be a “wise Berean”. Above all, do what the Scriptures say so that the Word of God will not be blasphemed, because talk alone is cheap.
Therefore, let me exhort you to regularly feed on the Word,24 and be fruitful.
