Isaiah 26:8,9 …the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early…
Reader, what is your desire this morning? Here we read that the desire of one’s soul is to have remembrance of the Name of The Lord both early in the morning and late at night. This is the desire of the regenerate, the desire for intimacy with The Lord, thinking about Him night and day.
It is so easy for The Lord to get “lost” in the myriad of daily responsibilities and the hustle and bustle pressure of modern day living. Perhaps we need to be more intentional to “reel in” the multitude of vain thoughts and replace them with thoughts of God’s Name. His Name is a strong and mighty tower (Proverbs 18:10). His Name is sweeter than honey. His Name is Wonderful (Isaiah 9:6), Holy because He is strong, sweet, wonderful, and holy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. His Name is unaffected by our disturbing current events. His Name is not in the least bit intimidated by the powers of darkness that seek to devour us. There is just something about The Name of Jesus that brings peace in the midst of the stress of life. Just hearing His Name gives hope when all Hope seems lost.
Jesus said, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3) Take the time today to exalt His Name in the midst of what you are doing. Take those “think about God” breaks throughout the day, beloved. The Name of The Lord is a stress-buster for His children. Your day will be blessed or stressed to the extent that you think about the presence of Emmanuel, God with us. Selah
