Paul uses the doctrine of the resurrection of the body to motivate the body of Christ to be steadfast, unmovable and abounding in the work of The Lord (1 Corinthians 15:50-58). Being devoted to The Lordship of Jesus Christ in a fallen world is not an easy thing. There is that personal battle against the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the pride of life. There is that opposition from the world whose agenda is to undermine the things that God’s Word calls sacred. Truth be told, we often find ourselves having the same kind of “What’s the use” mentality that we read about in Psalm 73.
Blessed church family, one of the devil’s most effective fiery darts is the fiery dart of discouragement. The enemy wants us to focus on all of the “unanswered prayers.” He wants us to rehearse in our minds all of the times that we shared the gospel to what seemed to be deaf ears. He wants us to remember all the times that we took a stand for the truth for the glory of God, only to suffer for righteousness sake. Beloved, are you getting weary of well doing? Weary of praying? Weary of walking in purity? Weary of serving others? Stop looking at the circumstances or your fractured feelings. Look to what Jesus did for you on Calvary. Your labors in The Lord are not in vain. They are His will. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch, as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
