Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
There is no ambiguity about what this text means. The very same Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you and me who belong to Christ. Ponder that for a moment. This is one of the many passages about The Holy Spirit that we limit to His work in the new birth. But there is more, much more.
Jesus, in prophesying of the indwelling Spirit of God, said in John 7:38,39: “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” Before He ascended to the right hand of The Father, Jesus said in Acts 1:8: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
A flowing river of life. A divine power to be a witness for Jesus. Do you believe what Jesus said here regarding The Spirit of God in us, beloved? Have we allowed theological systems and the denomination of the “10 spies” to reduce these passages to a doctrine instead of a living, abiding, intimate encounter with The Spirit that results in the life of Christ flowing to us and through us? Let God be true, and every man a liar (Romans 3:4). Selah.
