Acts 4:31  And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

The apostles had been detained overnight and threatened because of their proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The natural man would cower in fear and keep his mouth shut. The Spirit-filled man will pray and then speak the word of God with boldness. Their prayer was, “And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word”. (Acts 4:29)

How each one of us need Spirit-filled boldness. When the religious authorities were interrogating these radical followers of Jesus it was written that “when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)

Spirit-filled boldness, not bravado, not bragging, comes from being with Jesus. It is a boldness that is pure, not obnoxious; pure, not pugnacious. May The Lord once again grant us the gift of holy boldness for the cause of Christ and the glory of His Name. Remember, you are prayed for this morning by your Great High Priest Jesus, Who ever lives to make intercession for His saints (Hebrews 7:25).
