Haggai 2:6-7 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, … the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory…
Haggai 2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace …

One of Satan’s most effective fiery darts is comparing yourself, or what God has called you to do, with someone else or a work of God in the past. When the people of God began to build the new temple, they began to compare its size and glory to Solomon’s temple in all of its splendor and glory. They could not see how this new temple could have any significance in comparison to the previous temple. But God did not agree with their assessment of the situation. What He told them to do would have a vital part in God’s millennial temple, which will be constructed after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is called “the desire of all nations” by Haggai (2:7). He is The Ultimate Desire of every human being. But when you look around, it is pretty obvious that Jesus Christ is not the desire of this fallen world system. Neither is He the desire of the vast majority of people on planet earth. Sadly, neither is He the desire of the consumer-friendly, lukewarm church.

But the great commission is that we, the Church of Jesus Christ, go into all the world and preach the gospel to every nation and creature (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15). Do not think that your “little” praying or “little” sharing is insignificant, beloved. Do not compare yourself with what anyone else is doing. Be strong in The Lord. Serve Him faithfully. Your Ultimate Desire, Jesus Christ, is coming back soon!
