In the third chapter of Acts, quite an interesting scene takes place. A lame man is healed by God through Peter and John. What I find interesting about this whole incident is the reaction of the “temple-goers”. Questions: Why were they going to the temple? Who were they supposedly meeting with there? Answers: They were going to meet with and worship the True and Living God. Fine. Wonderful. Why then the amazement when God moved?

I find myself reacting the same way at times. I pray and put something before the Lord. He answers and I’m certainly grateful, but equally shocked. Today reader, why do you go to church? What do you expect God to do? “Miracle” is a human term to define what Jesus does naturally. What can’t the Lord do? When did He lose His power to save, heal, or do the miraculous? In Luke 5:17 the Word tells us that “the power of God was present to heal them.”

In Matthew 18:20, Jesus said: “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them”, and this assures us of His presence here today. Think about that. Our wonderful Savior is right here in our midst. He’s here to be worshipped. When the apostles saw Jesus lifted up into heaven, they worshipped Him, were filled with great joy, and continued to praise and bless God.

We aren’t gathered to “bring Christ down”. No, “in Him we live and move and have our being”. How sad it is to get so bogged down with life itself that we lose that sense of the presence of God. Is He speaking to your heart today, beloved? You see, life is full of complexities and difficulties, but Jesus wants us to be more conscious of Him than of the adversities.

Is your expectation from God today? Let’s not be amazed when God moves mightily; it’s normal. Use that “mustard seed” of faith in Him today, and stagger not at His promises; neither be of a doubtful mind. He is faithful11 to do what He says.

“Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.”
