In 2 Corinthians 1:12-24 we read the beginning of Paul’s defense against those who questioned his character and ministry. Due to changes in his travel plans, there were individuals (whom Paul later called, “false brethren” – 2 Corinthians 11:26) who began to poison the minds of the church at Corinth with lies and thoughts of suspicion about his apostolic genuineness and love and care for them. While Paul does indeed launch his defense of why he did what he did, his main concern was that The Name of Jesus and the very gospel that saved them not be held in question. Thus, he talks about God being true and Jesus being the Amen to all of God’s promises.
We are living at a time when the truth about Jesus Christ is being replaced by lies and deception. Every day the lives of God’s people are being shattered because of people who break their promises. Beloved, God is faithful. Jesus is the Guarantee that every promise of Scripture will come to pass. No matter what people say, no matter what people do, no matter what your circumstances or feelings tell you – trust Him. Selah.
Trust Him, not ourselves.
