Jesus is both Shepherd and sacrifice for Christians. Such love is beyond human comprehension. God sending Jesus to die for my sin, Jesus willingly laying down His life for His sheep. All mankind, like lost sheep, have gone astray; “we have turned, every one, to his own way.“
But God, “who is rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us,” has come down to us in the person of His son Jesus to pay the ransom price necessary for us to be delivered from the debt and slavery of sin.
May our hearts ponder the greatness of the love and mercy of our Shepherd Redeemer Jesus. Jesus, our Shepherd Lord is the Bread of Life for all of His children. Therefore, with joy today, may we draw living water out of the wells of salvation.
May we look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, with fresh confidence and assurance that the plan of redemption is finished, and Jesus is with us always!
What a blessing He is, Shepherd and Redeemer in one! And what a Shepherd, and what a Redeemer…
He shed His blood for me in spite of my sinful nature. He sought me out when I was lost in favor of 99 others who were in “no need for repentance”. A message to the self-righteous Pharisees: it is that one lost sheep seeking repentance that He saved. In His masterful way, He also put a mirror in front of them for self examination: are you the one sheep willing to admit to your sins and repent or are you one of the prideful to whom he would say “I never knew you”.
There is much depth in this parable but one thing is sure- our sinless Shepherd seeks His lost sheep and shed His blood to redeem us. As the song goes:
“Our God is an awesome God”
God bless,
