Mark 14.24,25 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.

The book of Leviticus tells us “for the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for the soul.” When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, they fell out of fellowship with Him. That fall resulted in a separation from God which is known as spiritual death. So how does fallen man get back into fellowship with God? Religion would say that we have to perform certain rituals or amass a certain amount of good works to erase our sin debt.

When the early church was confronted by this, because they combined the rite of circumcision with faith in Christ for salvation, they wrote, “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.” Grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. Only the blood of Jesus can atone for our sin.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only [so], but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” Praise God for the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God on the cross for our sin debt. Just as I am without one plea, but that Thy blood was shed for me.

I pass along this fundamental truth this morning, beloved, because the devil is constantly seeking to get us on a works-based, religious treadmill that is exhausting and of no effect. We are forgiven, saved and have fellowship with The Father by His grace, through faith in the blood of Jesus. Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” Come freely, come boldly, come humbly before your God this morning. Jesus has made the way, for He IS The Way.
