Our meditation title today is taken from an old hymn that reminds us that the only thing that can wash away our sin is the blood of Jesus. “Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.” (Heb 9:22) God has decreed that blood makes atonement for our souls. Jesus declared on the night of the Passover that His blood has been shed “for the remission of sins.”
In Paul’s letter to the Colossian saints we read that it is in Christ that “we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” What a price God paid for our sins! We belong to Jesus now.
Oh the power that exists in the blood of Jesus! The power to be cleansed from sin and unrighteousness; the power to overcome the wiles of the devil; the power to overcome a guilty conscience for a wicked past. The blood of Jesus enables us to draw near to God “in full assurance of faith”.
We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. We are free to serve God, free to worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Thank you, Jesus, for Your love and sacrifice for my sin!
