In the first part of the wall-building project, Nehemiah’s challenges as a spiritual leader were primarily from enemies outside of Judah. However, before the walls were finally rebuilt, he encountered the most difficult and intense kind of problem almost every spiritual leader has to face eventually — problems from within. In the midst of harsh circumstances, wealthy Jews were mistreating and exploiting their less-fortunate brethren. Please open your Bible to Nehemiah chapter five, and listen as Pastor Ray Viola begins his discussion of this chapter.
