Peter reminded his readers to heed God’s word, especially as it relates to the promise of Jesus’ coming. Scoffers forget that God’s word, which tells of a future judgment by fire, is the same word that warned about the flood that destroyed the world. Any delay should not be taken as slackness on the Lord’s part, for time means nothing to the Lord. Rather, delay is an indication of the Lord’s longsuffering: He does not want any to perish. Please open your Bible to Second Peter chapter three, and listen as Pastor Ray Viola begins his discussion of this chapter.
