Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Is it just me, or are some of you getting burned out with all of the conversations and conspiracy theories about COVID 19, and the unrest that is going on in our nation? On top of that, there are the everyday issues and challenges of life that you and I are facing. There is lots of sad news out there. There is a lot of anger and frustration and despair. We are a planet that is confronted with problems and pains that are beyond human control.
But this morning I have good news for you. Great news! God is on the throne and His eternal plan of redemption is right on schedule, and no virus, riot, political party, or demons are going to stop it! Hallelujah!! The Lord God Almighty reigns (Revelation 19:6). We will be looking at Revelation chapter 5 this morning. We are going to see beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ is The One Who breaks the 7-sealed book that brings about the final stages of human history, as we know it. In heaven, the apostle John sees The Lord Jesus as both a Lion and a slain Lamb. He has risen. He has conquered sin and death. All heaven breaks loose with praise and worship unto Him that sits upon the throne. Worthy is The Lamb! While you and I are debating over COVID and protests, and are trying to figure out when are we going to reopen our churches, the redeemed in heaven are worshipping Him Who sits upon the throne.
The throng around the throne consists of every tribe, every tongue, every people and every nation because in the redemptive heart of The Living God, ALL lives matter. The gospel of Jesus Christ is Good News. Religion is good advice – something that you must do to get right with God. The gospel is the good news of what Jesus Christ has done to forgive us of our sin and adopt us into the family of God. The singular mission of the Church is to preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). We are not called to be activists. We are not called to preach politics, religion, racism, or nationalism. We are called to declare the good news of Jesus Christ. All of mankind’s problems on earth are sin issues, and every human being is born into this world S-I-N positive. The only cure for sin is Jesus Christ. That is the message that the Church needs to be spreading because that is the message that will change the world, one soul at a time. Selah.
