Job 37.14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

If your soul is dry as a crust of bread, or you are feeling dull and blah. Try doing what God told Job, who was having a bona fide “pity party”, stand still and look at My wondrous works. It is as if Jehovah was telling Job, behold My majesty in creation, and the battery of your soul will get recharged. I believe that is true. There is something about the vastness and splendor of creation that makes both you and your problems seems quite small. That was the idea behind God speaking out of a whirlwind beginning in chapter 38. Talk about putting man in his place before The Almighty. Those chapters where God reveals His power, wisdom and sovereign authority are some of the most incredible, “God High Five” chapters in Scripture.

In order to grasp the greatness of our God, we, like Job, need to stand still. Do that right now. Turn off your IPad, smart phone and all other techno devices. Look outside your window. Behold the glory of God in the trees, the birds, the flowers, the sounds. Look up towards heaven. Hear The Lord say to your soul this morning, be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Beloved, The God of creation is the God of your salvation! He is giving life to every single creature and created thing. He is breathing air into your soul, and life into your spirit. Yes, be still and behold His wondrous works! The works of the LORD [are] great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. When we seek out the work of God in creation, it pleases our being and charges the batteries of our soul.

Beholding creation is God’s medicine for a sick soul. Nobody climbs Mount Everest to take out a mirror and comb their hair. Nobody deep sea dives to “discover” how smart or wonderful they are. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Dear ones, especially those who are hurting or grieving or feel like tossing in the proverbial towel. The most glorious work of God was put on display on Mount Calvary, when Jesus Christ, by the grace of God, tasted death for every man. He loves you with a love that is greater than creation itself.
