Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His Name.
God has this book of remembrance that includes the names of those who fear Him and think upon His Name. One of the most important spiritual disciplines in the life of followers of Jesus Christ is the battle of the mind. To keep the mind stayed on The Lord is a battle. We have vocational and family responsibilities that fill our minds with things that need to be attended to. We live in a fallen world that is bombarding us 24/7 with thoughts ranging from every kind of phobia imaginable to man to fleshly lusts that war against the soul. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3) What a precious promise this is!
Beloved, there IS a peace that God promises to those who fear Him and think about His Name. This is fearing The Lord in the sense of being in awe of Him. Thinking about His Name means to think about His character as He reveals Himself to us in Scripture. It is pulling down those mental strongholds that give rise to fears and doubts and worries that profit nothing and replacing them by contemplating the attributes of God as they are revealed in Scripture. But Malachi adds that speaking these Big God thoughts to one another is another key to mental peace. So fill your mind with Scriptures about the Person and character and work of Christ and pass them on to others. God is listening….
