This morning we conclude our series on the 4 fold vision statement of Koinonia Fellowship with the last point being glorify Christ. Our vision statement is to Know Christ, Grow in Christ, Proclaim Christ and bring Him glory. Actually, glorifying Christ is the foundation of anything and everything that we do as Christians, both inside and outside of the walls of the church building. To define what the glory of God means is nearly impossible because the glory of God is a manifestation of all that God is.
We see in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that the totality of our lives is to be lived for the glory of God. The glory of God is to be sought even in the daily routines of eating and drinking. In other words, our faith in Christ is much more than a ‘weekend obligation’ or religious ‘tack-on’ to everything else going on in our lives. Following Christ is life itself, and bringing Him glory in all that we do is our goal. Being flawed and broken sinners saved by grace, we will never perfectly display the glory of God in this life, but that does not change the agenda that God has left us. Our good works are to be done for the glory of God (Matthew 5:16). The exercise of our God-given talents and abilities are to be used for the glory of God (1 Peter 4:10,11). A life that is lived for the glory of God is a life that seeks to make much of our Savior’s grace, mercy, love and greatness.
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy Name give glory, for Thy mercy, and for Thy truth’s sake (Psalm 115:1). For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to Whom be glory forever. Amen!
