Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
In the design of God, every part of the body of Christ has a distinct expression of light, which is unique to their calling. Like our human body, those distinctions are a tremendous manifestation of the manifold grace of God. However, over time, there is a tendency to conclude that the only valid expressions of church life and activity are through their own “flashlight”.
This way of looking at church life through one flashlight robs us of seeing more through the Floodlight of the glory of The Lamb of God. A flashlight can only see one thing at a time. A floodlight can light up an entire room!
Whether it is worship, teaching styles, evangelism, or prayer meetings, we all have flashlights that fit into our comfort zones, and there is a place for that. But I suggest to you this morning, beloved, that if you ask The Lord to shine His Floodlight on what is going on in the whole house of God, you will step away with a greater sense of the glory and majesty of God than when you only turn on your flashlight.
