In “The Lord’s Prayer,” Jesus mentioned forgiveness twice: Forgive us as we forgive our debtors, and if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. This forgiveness from the Father to which Jesus referred is the forgiveness that affects fellowship within th God’s family, not the forgiveness that leads to salvation.
