God allowed Gentile kings to overrun His people in Judah, because they had forsaken Him. God’s purpose was not the destruction of His people; He wanted them to repent and turn to Him again. God wanted them to repent, because He loves them very much, and, as foretold in today’s passage, the cutting off of the Messiah, His only begotten Son, is the greatest act of love the world has ever known!
