Liberated captives laid the foundation for the Jewish Temple after returning from Babylon. Then local opposition caused the work to cease. Building the Temple was important, but the people were saying that it just wasn’t the right time to rebuild. Similarly, people get saved and all excited about Jesus, but then opposition comes, and the Lord’s work stops. We don’t want this to happen to us.
