2 Timothy 3:14-15 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The word “continue” speaks of forward motion. It is moving ahead, regardless of the obstacles or difficulties. Paul is about to be martyred. He gives to his protégé Timothy the imperative to continue in the faith. Continue in the faith, Timothy; do not swerve from reading, preaching and living out the Scriptures. Continue in the faith, Timothy; do not follow the winds of doctrine or current spiritual trends that blow in and out of the church. Continue in the faith, Timothy; don’t listen to the whispers or lies of the world. Continue in the faith, Timothy; don’t plant your feet near the ditch of compromise and the fallen, false pleasures of this world.

Reader, do you need this admonition from Paul this morning? Are you living on the cliff edge of sin or compromise? Are you fascinated and carried away by whatever spiritual winds and trends that blow through the church? The Holy Scriptures are sufficient to make you wise, beloved. The Holy Scriptures point you to The Living, risen Savior Jesus. “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, ‘If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’” (John 8:31-32) Those words of Jesus are as true today as the moment they came out of His lips.

Have a blessed day in The Savior!
