Zech 4.6,7 – This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

Zerubbabel was a civil official that was responsible for the construction of the new temple. The task before him was daunting, signified by the phrase, “O great mountain”. But God does not assign a task to His people without granting us the power of His Spirit to fulfill it. Those obstacles that stood in the way of the building of the temple would be removed, not by Zerubabbel’s strategy or intelligence or human strength, but by The Spirit of God. The same holds true for you and me today, beloved. Life and the challenges of life can be daunting. They at times seem like Mount Everest. We crumble under the pressure of the tasks. We realize that human strength and human wisdom is not going to cut it. Be of good cheer beloved. God has equipped you with all that you will need to fulfill your responsibilities today.

Before The Lord Jesus ascended up to heaven, the apostles were concerned about how they would accomplish the great task of reaching the lost with the gospel. The answer? “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Blessed be The Name of The Lord! He has given to us His Spirit to do His work. The Holy Spirit is like oil in the lamp stands of the vision of Zechariah. He fills us up in order that He might be poured out through us.

Thus, as we start our day today and look over the tasks on our Daytimer or smartphones, we can have the assurance that God will provide the wisdom and strength of His Spirit to help us to carry out these tasks.
Place those mountain like tasks or appointments before The Lord today, beloved. Believe that God will lead you by His Spirit as you call upon His Name. “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. So too is walking in the power and wisdom of The Holy Spirit. Let your confidence today be this: Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
