There appears to be a lot of uncertainty these days regarding the eternal security of the believer. Scripture tells us that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith and that we are complete in Him. In other words, the completeness of my salvation is entirely wrapped up in Jesus Christ. In Him I am accepted, and in Him I have redemption.
The foundation of my salvation is Jesus Himself. I have no confidence whatsoever in my performance. I’m hopelessly lost apart from Christ, dead in trespasses and sin, and deserving of sin’s payment, death.
But God! Oh, the sweetness of those words! Despite my hostile attitude towards Jesus, I have been reconciled back into fellowship through my Lord Jesus. I glory in my Lord because of what He’s done for me.
Can I know for sure that I am eternally secure? Of course I can! I’m sealed by God the Holy Ghost unto the day of redemption. My Father has begun a good work in me (in spite of me) that will continue until He sees fit to take me home. The redemption taught in Scripture is eternal because the atonement made for sin is the precious blood of Christ.
Sin has been judicially dealt with by The Lamb of God. He, and He alone, is my Hope, my Mediator, my High Priest, my Savior, my Advocate, my Redemption!
Indeed the Son of God, Emmanuel, has saved my soul, and “I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that Day” for He has promised to preserve me and never cast me out.
“Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
