Boaz said to Ruth, “And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.” (Ruth 3:11) Ruth had the reputation of being a virtuous woman. Precious ladies, what would your reputation be today? As we look through through the book of Proverbs we see a picture of what a virtuous woman looks like in an ungodly world. It is my personal conviction that, like Ruth, a virtuous woman will shine like the noonday sun in this ungodly world.
Proverbs tells us that an ungodly woman is a woman of loose moral character. She is loud and stubborn. She is brawling and contentious. She brings shame to her husband. She is a home destroyer. In contrast, there is the virtuous woman. She loves her husband and children. She fears The Lord. She is wise. She is a homebuilder. As the proverb says, a virtuous woman is more valuable than precious rubies (Proverbs 31:10).
I thank The Lord Jesus for a God-fearing wife and daughter. I thank The Lord Jesus for the multitude of virtuous women in this church family. My dear sisters in Jesus, I pray that a study of Proverbs will bless you, strengthen you, comfort you, challenge you, and above all, inspire you to be the kind of woman who brings glory and honor to Jesus Christ.
