Isaiah 9:2,6 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
1 Timothy 3:16 says, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh…” God Himself was born into this fallen world. Behold the mystery, saints. He did not come in vain. He came with a purpose. Matthew 20:28 tells us that “the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” The Apostle John wrote, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
Glory to God for His redemptive plan to ransom us from the debt of sin and rescue us from the works of the devil! Jesus came to do for man what we could never do for ourselves. Grace is the unmerited favor God gave us by sending His Son (John 1:17; Romans 3:24).
During a time when Israel was in captivity and spiritual darkness, Isaiah prophesied that a light would arise. A Special Child would be born (Isaiah 9:1-6)! Jesus Christ IS the gospel, beloved. He did not merely come to save us; He Himself IS our salvation. He did not merely come to deliver us from the power of darkness, He Himself IS our Deliverer and our Light. Behold the mystery. A Child is born, and His Name shall be called Emmanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23). Selah
