In our study this morning, the Holy Spirit issues a warning to those who call themselves saints but do not live saintly lives. Sadly, the grace of God has been interpreted by some to mean that as long as I “come to Christ”, it doesn’t matter how I live. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Grace is the power of God by which we become new creatures. Sinless perfection in this life is a myth, but when we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
This warfare against the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is an inevitable but a winnable war.
May the Holy Spirit minister His truth to our hearts today. And by obedient hearing, may we make our calling and election sure.
Whatever you do, don’t lie to yourself with vain words for eternity is only a step away!
